EXTENDED OPENING HOURS - BIRLEY HEALTH CENTRE

We recongnise that some people are finding it difficult to make an appointment outside work hours, so we are going to extend our opening hours (no doubt you will have seen a lot about this in the media).

We were one of the last Practices to stop opening on Saturday normings - we closed because there was very little take-up, and the NHS was no longer asking us to do so.

We think the main shortage is after work - we already offer appointments from 8.a.m. These are used, but there is not a massive demand.

We are therefore proposing to offer extra appointments on Mondays and Thursdays, from 6.00 to 7.30 p.m. these will be pre-bookable and we will NOT be able to deal with emergencies (the same Out of Hours service will be in place).

Also, we will be limited by not being able to take blood samples (labs aren't open) and the Pharmacy is likely to be closed (so prescriptions can't be picked up at the same time)

Given this, we want to know how many people want us to open longer, and what would be the best times to create appointments.

Please take a couple of minutes to read the following and send your views through contact us on the link Have your Say Complaints and Suggestions.
