The
District Nurses are qualified ………..offer
a 24-hour service, seven days a week. In practice
however, most visits are carried out between 8.30am
and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

| The District
Nurses based at Birley Health Centre provide a
wide variety of services for patients in the community
i.e. General nursing care, care of the terminally
ill, assess and treat wounds, give injections and
take blood, ear and eye care, assess for incontinence,
catheter/stoma care, assess for aids to daily living,
give health education/promotion, support relatives
and carers etc and carry out home visits to patients
who cannot attend surgery for various reasons. |
| Referrals can be made from a variety of sources e.g. by a GP, hospital, other
professionals, relatives, carers or by the patient themselves. |

in Child Health, Health Promotion and Health Education.
They are here to listen to you, help, advise and
support you in all sorts of situations. |
