Appointments
can be made in advance at the Desk or by phone, but to see a GP on the day please phone at 8.30 a.m. |
| We also offer a GP Triage service if you may be able to be dealt with by phone. The Receptionist will take a message and contact telephone number from you, as well as some details about your problem (to assess urgency) and agree a time slot for calling you back. The message will then be passed to the Doctor. |
| Why should I give details of my problem to the Receptionist? |
We will be able to respond better if we have some indication of the service you require; we can assess urgency and to decide who is the most appropriate person to respond. The Doctors have trained our Receptionist to do this Task and they operate to the highest standards of confidentiality. If you explain your problem to the Receptionist they do have the skills to point you in the right direction. If however you are really unhappy about talking to the Receptionist about your problem, they will quite understand and not press you on the matter.
Please be aware that our highly skilled Nurse Prescribers can treat a wide range of problems and conditions, and indeed if you have a chronic condition (eg Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, asthma, etc) you should see a Nurse to review all aspects of your treatment.
You may also have a much more productive consultation if you have a had the necessary tests beforehand - please see a Health care assistant for tests. |
| When is the best time to ring? |
Please remember that we can always book appointments a day, a few days, or even a week or more in advance - booking on the day is only designed for acute illnesses.
If you need to be seen on the day, please ring at 8.30am - all calls are placed in a queue, so you will get through! |
